REGULARIEN
DER HG/PG - Nation-League
date: 07-DEZ-2005
valid for: 2004, 2005, 2006
General information
Calculations and scoring used in the OLC National League
are based on those from the Gliding OLC League from 2003.
Differences between the Paragliding and Hang Gliding OLC
National League and the Gliding OLC League are marked with
an * in this document.
Goals of the HG/PG OLC National
League
Through a system of rounds, and a Formula-1 scoring scheme
a league ranking for clubs has been implemented. As in Formula-1
racing, the ranking can change throughout the season due
to the scoring scheme.
As in other sports, the competition remains exciting right
to the last round: it is often the very last round which
determines the final winners. Flights conducted as OLC SPRINT
tasks are used as the basis for scoring: these are evaluated
during an OLC cross country flight over a period of 90 minutes*.
The optimum weather-window will be automatically evaluated
from the OLC Computers, according to the flights registered
per IGC file.
The HG/PG National League will not be split into a first
and second division with corresponding promotion and relegation
rules as in the Gliding National League*.
Participants
The HG/PG OLC National League is a team competition for clubs
recognised by their national Aeroclub associations* and who’s
pilots participate in the DHV Online Contest*. Dates
The HG/PG OLC League will be conducted yearly on a pre-defined
number of weekend rounds.
Certain national holidays will also be included in addition
to the weekend dates.
The competition round dates will be set together with officials
from the Gliding National League in mid-February and publicised
on this website during the first week in March.
Generally, the OLC National League is to start during the
last full weekend in April, and will run until the last full
weekend in August.
2012/02
Formula-1 scoring
The three fastest flights from up to three pilots who completed
OLC SPRINT-tasks from a particular club will be
entered in the scoring.
In addition to this, the round winners receive two extra
points per club for every participating club, to a maximum
of 50 additional points.
Every competing club will receive one point for entering.
The round ranking at the end of a scored round will list
participating clubs according to the average Sprint task
speeds of their competing pilots.
In the final ranking, clubs will be listed according to
the points collected in completed rounds.
The HG/PG OLC League differs from the Gliding OLC League
through lower criteria for flight scoring.
The main points are:
- Minimum average speed over ground: 8 km/h
- Minimum distance: 15 km
- Maximum scoring time span from IGC tracklog: 90 minutes
Practical experience gathered in the current season will
be used where necessary to modify scoring calculations
in the coming season.
Should it become apparent that a modification is necessary
for the current season, the OLC Team reserves the right
to do so. Protests will be handled according to the HG/PG
DHV Online contest regulations.
Publication
Results of the individual rounds and the current ranking
list will be scored and published on the internet by 24:00
UTC on the Tuesday following the round-weekend. Round-Rankings
will be updated live, immediately on reception of an uploaded
flight. It should be remembered that under severe OLC Server
load, the publication of Sprint Task calculations may be
delayed for some hours.
All the results of the individual rounds will be visible,
whereas the current ranking list will be updated accordingly.
Regulations for an OLC SPRINT-Task
All the following regulations are implemented through the
Sprint Task calculation programs running on the OLC Servers.
External programs used to optimize Sprint Tasks have no
influence on the automatic calculations and scoring performed
by the OLC Servers.

Scoring route
Up to three Sprint waypoints will be positioned
along the recorded flight tracklog between the Sprint start
and end points, such that the total distance of the task
is maximised.
The maximum duration of a Sprint task is
90 minutes, after Sprint start.
The first possible Sprint calculation point starts with
the first valid Trackpint outside of a 1km radius arround
takeoff.
The flight may not be assisted
by use of winch or motor.
The Sprint start, end and waypoints
must lie on the flight route.
Altitude difference
The start altitude of a Sprint task may not be greater
than the end altitude of a Sprint task. The Sprint task start time is defined as the time at which
the Sprint task start altitude is reached.
The end of the Sprint task is defined as the point at which
the Sprint end altitude is reached.
(The start altitude of a Sprint
task is defined as the lowest altitude achieved after start,
after Sprint task start and before Sprint task end.
The Sprint task end altitude is defined as being the highest
point reached after the Sprint end point and before the
flight end. )
Scoring
The scoring speed of a single flight is calculated through
the sum of the distances from Sprint start to Sprint end
over the Sprint waypoints (in km) divided by 1.5 (hours).
The scoring for a particular club is calculated from the
three best scoring speeds of its members for a League round.
In a single round, only one flight per pilot will be scored.
Flights which are to be scored for the OLC National League
must be uploaded to the OLC Server by 23:59 UTC on the
Tuesday following the round-weekend at the latest. Flights
uploaded at later dates cannot be scored in the OLC League.

Gliding OLC League are marked with an * in this document.
