RULES
(OLC-International and national OLCs)
From: 28.12.2001
(Translated by Dr. Herbert Pirker,
Fred Weinholtz, Dr. Hans Ludwig Trautenberg)
GOALS
The goal of
the 'aerokurier Online Contest' (OLC) is to record cross-country glider
flights, free from the conventions of flight declarations, in order to
make decentralised performance comparisons easier. In so doing it is hoped
to improve the scope of cross-country flights
1. Documentation
IGC-approved
GNSS Flight Recorders will be used exclusively for documentation. Motor-gliders
will document soaring flight by recording of the Engine Noise Level (ENL)
system built in to these recorders.
Official observers
are not required.
2. Evaluation,
official distance
After the flight
the start point, up to three turnpoints and the finish point are determined
on the flight trace, so that the points for the flights are maximised.
It is possible
to score the flight as a triangle, if the distance between the start point
and the finish point is less than 20 % of the distance around the three
turnpoints. The scoring distance in this case is the distance around the
three turnpoints reduced by the distance between start and finish point.
The entire flight
from the start point to the finish point has to be performed in free flight
without any means of propulsion.
Start point,
all turnpoints and finish point have to be recorded GNSS fixes.
For the OLC-Deutschland
at least one recorded GNSS fix of the flight has to be in Germany.
3. Altitude
difference, start and finish time
The minimal
finish altitude is 1000 metre below the start altitude.
The start altitude
the lowest altitude after the begin of free flight and before reaching
the start point.
The start time
the time at which the start altitude is reached.
The finish altitude
is the highest altitude after reaching the finish point and before ending
free flight.
The finish time
is the time at which the finish altitude is reached.
4. Scoring,
points
At least 1.5
raw points per kilometer are granted for the distance from the start point
around the three turnpoint to the finish point.
For triangle
flights with a minimum leg of at least 28 % or, if triangle is larger than
500 kilometre with a minimum leg of at least 25% and a maximum leg of 45%,
2 raw points per kilometre are granted for the scoring distance.
For all other
triangle flights 1.75 raw point per kilometre of the scoring distance are
granted.
The rule maximising
the raw points is applied.
The raw points
are multiplied with 100 and are divided by the applicable DaeC Index. The
resulting final points is rounded to two decimal digits.
5. Flight claiming
Fliht claims will be only made at www.onlinecontest.de .
Claimes have to be submitted by 24:00 on the Tuesday following
the flight local time of the finish point. The IGC-file has to be
submitted as part of the flight claim. By submitting the flight the
participant certifies that the flight took place as claimed.
The IGC file
has to be submitted with the flight claim.
By submitting
the flight the participant certifies that the flight took place as claimed.
6. Evaluation
period for 2002
Flights can
be submitted from now until the close of the evaluation period on October
13th 2002. The competition for the following 12 month period begins on
the following day and ends on the 15th October following, and so on.
7. Winners
and prize-distribution
Winner and "aerokurier
Online Contest Champion 2002" is the participant who scores the highest
number of points with six flights. The prize-distribution will take place
at the OLC-symposium in Gersfeld/Rhön
(Germany) on
the 26th October 2002.
8. Publishing
of data
The participant
agrees that his flight data and flight-routes will be published on the
Internet at www.onlinecontest.de .
9. Validation
Flights and
scores will be accepted if no objections have been filed against them within
4 weeks after the corresponding weekly deadline (see para 5).
Deadline for
objections against flights made after the 15th September will be the 14th
October.
Flight data
in the form of IGC data files must be kept by the participant until one
month after the end of the current competition.
10. Participation
and Registration
Participants
are individual pilots, or two-pilot teams for double seaters.
Participation
is free of charge (sponsors finance OLC).
Registration
can only be made online via the forms provided at www.onlinecontest.de
and can only be made once a year.
By their registration
the participants agree to the competition rules.
